Miconazole is an antifungal medicine used to treat fungal infections of the skin. It works by killing the fungus that causes infections such as athlete’s foot, Dhobie Itch, thrush, ringworm and dry, flaky skin. It used to treat tinea corporis(ringworm, fungal skin infection that causes a red scaly rash on different parts of the body), tinea cruris (jock itch, fungal infection of the skin in the groin or buttocks), and tinea pedis (athlete’s foot, fungal infection of the skin on the feet and between the toes. Metronidazole is a member of the imidazole class of antibacterial agents and is classified therapeutically as an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. It works by killing the bacteria or preventing their growth. It is used either alone or with other antibiotics to treat pelvic inflammatory disease, endocarditis, and bacterial vaginosis. It is effective for dracunculiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, and amebiasis. Metronidazole vaginal gel is indicated in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (formerly referred to as Haemophilus vaginitis, Gardnerella vaginitis, nonspecific vaginitis, Corynebacterium vaginitis, or anaerobic vaginosis).
